Autodromo Riccardo Paletti is located near Varano in the Province of Parma, Italy. The track strated life as a small 550m (0.34 mile) oval in 1969, and was then expanded to a 1,800 km (1.119 miles), 11-turn race track. This new layout was inaugurated officially on 26 March1972. In 2001 the layout was extended to 2.375 km (1.475 miles). The track is named after F1 driver Riccardo Paletti, who was killed at the 1982 Canadian Grand Prix.
The track entrance is located on Strada per Fosio on the banks of the river. The turning is off local road SP28 Via Proviciale, the main road that passes through the town of Varano di Melegari, inbetween Bologna and Genova in Northern Italy.
