The Vallelunga Circuit is a car and superbike racing track and located 32 km north of Rome. The circuit was built as a 1.8 km sand oval in 1959 and from 1963 the circuit hosted the Rome Grand Prix. In 1967 a new loop was added when the track became the property of the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI). In 2004, work started on a 1 km extension to the track, bringing it up to its current length of 4.085 km (2.538 miles) in 2005. Races are run clockwise. The new configuration is certified by the FIA as a test circuit and is used by various Formula One teams.

A lap of the circuit

Great bend or curve
At the end of the straight comes the fastest turn of the route, a bend to the right and downhill that leads to a slight left turn and the staccato of Cimini.

Cimini
After heavy braking, we enter a double curve (1 Cimini Cimini and 2) slightly dish shaped.

Campagnano
On the long straights of the new stretch of track has a medium-range right-hander that leads into another straight uphill in the direction opposite to the first.

Soratte
The recent stretch of track is entered in the traditional track with a hard-edged left-hander that leads to the characteristic trench.

Trench
The trench is always more complex and spectacular curve of the track. A double change of direction in correspondence with a change of slope.

Semaphore
Once out of the trench down to get the curve right labeled Semaphore, with an entrance in a gentle slope.

Hairpin
Closer the curve of the circuit is the hairpin, where "windows" and overtaking in the race never fail.

Esse
On acceleration from Tornantino it comes to the fast and challenging esses, a left turn followed by a right.

Roma
Wonderful parabolic curve that leads into the long, fast straight.
