Formerly a US Airforce base, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground is currently the largest privately owned vehicle test track facility in the UK. It is used for corporate track days, official testing, and is home to the last flying Vulcan Bomber in existence! The venue is also used as a film location, and for vehicle storage. For testing purposes, there are a variety of circuit layouts, and surfaces:
•A 4 mile (6.44km) main circuit
•A 2 mile (3.22km) long and 60m wide straight one of the only ones in the UK
•A 2 mile (3.22km) sprint circuit with a mix of fast corners and a 1 mile (1.6km) long straight
•A 2mile (3.22km) oval ‘indy’ circuit which incorporates a 1 mile (1.6km) long straight
•A demanding off road test track for 4x4 vehicles incorporating steep gradients, deep ruts and river wading. Several choices of route also enable the off road test track to be used by car derived 4x4 vehicles.
•A rough terrain area designed for testing military equipment and industrial machinery.
